After a long day at work it is hard to get yourself motivated to hit the gym but once you start it’s hard to stop. Here are 5 motivation hacks to help get you started.
1. Make it easy for yourself
Pack your gym gear the night before and plan your workout schedule in advance. If you are doing an exercise class be sure to commit to it by pre-booking the class.
Meal prepping is also a great way to stay on track and keep things simple, spend some time on a Sunday preparing some healthy lunches and snacks to avoid any temptations during the week. Be sure to reward yourself with small indulgences a few times a week without the guilt, these little treats will help you stay focused and will help maintain a well-balanced lifestyle. No workout? No treats.
2. It’s a marathon, not a sprint
There is no quick fix, losing weight and maintaining it takes time. Avoid intense exercise or fad diets as they are hard to maintain, instead opt for more realistic goals with clear milestones that are more achievable.
3. Keep it fun and change it up
We can’t stress enough that whatever you do to exercise, be sure to enjoy it. The more you enjoy it the more chance there is of you sticking to it. Make sure to do something you truly enjoy and look forward to doing as this will make exercising less daunting, classes like Body PumpTM or Sh’bamTM are sure to get you moving.
Don’t forget to mix it up, it’s important to change your exercise program up every now and again to help stay motivated.
4. Get support
It’s important to make sure when using the gym equipment you are doing the exercise right, don’t be afraid to ask for help to achieve the most out of your gym session. Our gym instructors are always ready to offer support and guide you to get the right results. Be sure to book yourself in for one of our workout program where we will help pick the right exercises to suit your level of fitness and goals.
5. Bring a friend
Bring a friend along and plan your workouts together. It’s a lot easier to skip a gym session or a class when it’s just you but if you have someone else there to keep you on track and help motivate you. Don’t panic if you can’t find someone to join you, it’s important for you not to lose focus and determination, come along to our group exercise classes and meet new friends.
Start believing you can do this. Set realistic goals, plan your schedule in advance, and have fun. Small changes can make a big difference to your overall health, happiness, motivation and well-being.
